Support Allie and Burke's Surrogacy Journey

Hi, my name is Jocelyn, and I'm sharing this GoFundMe in support of my incredible sister and brother-in-law, Allie and Burke. They are some of the strongest people I know, as their journey into parenthood has proven to be difficult. I want to note that Allie and Burke don't know I've created this fundraiser, as they are far too humble to ask for help themselves. After a traumatic birth experience with their first child, Bennett, they are now pursuing surrogacy to grow their family.

When Bennett entered the world, what should have been the happiest day of their lives quickly turned into one of their most difficult, too. Allie bravely endured a life-threatening complication after delivery, resulting in hours of emergency surgery, a complete hysterectomy, and several blood transfusions necessary to save her life.

Thankfully, the surgery went well and Burke, Allie, and Bennett were happily reunited later that day. The Hrovats were able to begin their journey as a family of three full of gratitude for the doctors and hospital in saving Allie, but devastated by news that Allie would not be able to carry any more children.

Over the next couple of weeks grief came, as it does, in waves - the mourning for the family they always dreamed of having, the added financial burden to grow said family, a moment for the sibling they never knew if they would be able to provide Bennett. These moments were also filled with baby cuddles, little flutters of Bennett in his adorable 0-3 month onesies, and friends and family holding Allie, Burke, and Bennett near to their hearts.

Burke and Allie, inspired by the relationships they have with their own siblings, have sought out options in determination to grow their family. Burke and Allie have plans to undergo IVF treatments this year and work with a surrogate who will do the gracious and honorable work of growing the newest addition to their family.

As I have learned more about the costs associated with this process – surrogate, agency fees, medical procedures and appointments etc. – can reach upwards of $150,000. The amount that we as friends and family can contribute to support their journey to grow their family can oftentimes feel insignificant, but together we have the ability to help make this dream a reality.
