Help Alicia get a divorce
Donation protected
Hey there, I'm Amy (pictured on the left). I'm trying to raise money for my dear childhood friend, Alicia (pictured on the right), to help cover costs for a divorce attorney/lawyer.
Alicia has been in an extremely abusive and controlling marriage for nearly 13 years. She has tried to escape a few times now but was unsuccessful. The last time she had tried to divorce her husband, she was unable to get assistance from the state as they did not have the resources available for her. She could not get an extension for the deadline, so the divorce fell through. She has since tried a couple more times to get assistance from the state, but they are still unable to help her.
In October, we had made a plan for me to meet her up the street while she had to escape by climbing out of her kitchen window to avoid camera detections that were very closely monitored by her husband. He filed for divorce later that day once he figured out that she had left and that she had picked up the kids from school.
Alicia is a stay-at-home mother to 4 children and has no way of paying for an attorney/lawyer. It is critical for her and her children's emotional well-being and safety that she is able to get a divorce. Alicia is like a sister me, and it's been incredibly hard for me watching her suffer in many different ways for all these years. I'm also a domestic violence survivor, so I understand the challenges of trying to leave your abuser. Shes been there for me when I needed help, and now it's her turn to receive help.
She deserves peace and safety. And freedom. No more cameras watching her, no more incessant phone calls and texts that she must answer, and in a timely manner. No more coerced sexual demands as a price to pay in order to spend time with her friends. Or to avoid his anger. No more having her food benefits card confiscated. No more taking her phone and inspecting it and interrogating her before and after she leaves the house. No more rules and conditions she must abide by. No more relentless accusations of cheating because she took too long at the grocery store.
Anything that you can give to support her fight for freedom would be so helpful, and it would greatly be appreciated. Even If you can just share this. It would mean so much to me and Alicia would be thankful.
Thank you very much for reading.
