On Tuesday, April 22, I woke up with a sharp pain in my lower abdomen. My baby boy, Jay’Siah, had already been diagnosed with growth restriction, and I knew something was wrong. My husband called an ambulance, and I was rushed to Montefiore, then transferred to Bronx North Central. Jay’Siah was born on April 23, weighing 4 pounds and 8.6 ounces, but tragically, he passed away. Immediately after, I experienced severe complications and required 20 blood transfusions and multiple life-saving procedures. I spent two days under anesthesia, and three days with a tube and an open stomach fighting for my life.

Update – As We Approach One Year

Hello everyone,
It has been almost one year since the passing of our beautiful son. As we approach this anniversary, our hearts feel the weight of this past year more than ever. Grief has changed so many parts of our lives, but the love and support we have received from so many of you has truly helped us keep going.
I wanted to share a small update. Over the past year, we were not able to fully raise the funds needed to replace our car. After much thought and saving what we can, we are planning to purchase one ourselves this year. Because of that, I will be lowering our fundraising goal. We are doing everything in our power to cover as much as possible on our own.
That said, there are still some expenses we may struggle to meet — including car insurance and additional support to help our family move forward and rebuild in a healthy way. My mental health is something I am actively working on, and making sure our family has stability and the tools we need to thrive is my priority.
As we near the end of this fundraiser and approach our son’s one-year anniversary, I humbly ask that if you feel led, please consider sharing this page, leaving a kind word,Leaving a "Happy Birthday", or making a donation of any amount. Even a simple share makes a difference and helps us reach people who may want to support our journey.
Thank you to everyone who has helped in any way — through donations, shares, messages, or prayers. Your kindness has meant more than you know.
If you would like to, please leave a kind message or even a “Happy Birthday” in his honor as we remember him and close this chapter with love.
With gratitude,
Rodriguez Family
