Support Akira’s Legal Fight & Healing After Twin Loss

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Akira, and I’m reaching out to our wider community near and far, with an open heart to ask for your support during this incredibly challenging and ongoing chapter of our lives.

In these photos, you will see my 3 daughters; my eldest is alive today, the younger two, no longer; they died at age 4.5 years old.

As many of you know, in November 2021, I experienced the unimaginable and preventable loss of my twin daughters, Ophelia and Tarrow, who were just four years old. This grief is beyond words and continues to reverberate through every aspect of my life - my health, wellbeing, ability to survive and thrive, and my pursuit of accountability and justice for the actions that took my daughters’ lives.

Alongside this unbearable loss and the complete upheaval of everything I once knew, I’ve been navigating significant legal battles and ongoing health challenges directly linked to these tragic events.

We have key court dates through August and September, whilst re-petitioning for a Coronial Inquiry into the deaths which requires significant support and funding.

I’m currently seeking urgent funding, support, and community awareness to help cover:

Court costs: filing fees, document preparation, and associated administrative expenses
Legal support and counsel: barristers, solicitors, and specialist legal advice to ensure a strong case for both the current claim and coronial enquiry
Claim costs: expert reports, evidence preparation, and other case-related expenses
Medical expenses: treatments, therapies, and ongoing health care needs that have developed from my daughter's loss
Holistic care: trauma recovery support, counselling, and wellness therapies to aid emotional and physical healing

Please note that despite mounting evidence and clear breaches of NSW law, no one has been held accountable. In the eyes of the law, their deaths remain classified as a “simple accident,” meaning my surviving daughter and I are denied victims’ compensation for the devastating impact this has had on our lives.

This journey has been overwhelmingly isolating and has far exceeded any normal capacity for coping. Much of it has been endured in silence with the close support of family - out of survival, out of trauma, and out of necessity.

But now, with the urgency of my court battle and clarity, it is time to share the truth more openly. Many in our community have supported me and my daughter from the beginning, though few are aware of the full extent of the devastation and injustice we’ve faced.

I’m committed to standing up - not just for myself or for Ophelia and Tarrow, but for others who have experienced similar losses and have had to walk through them alone. This is about justice. This is about truth. And this is about healing, with dignity and the support of the village that has carried me this far.

Your contribution - no matter how small - will make a difference. It will help ensure that we continue this legal fight for accountability within the government bodies that managed my daughter's case and all parties responsible, while also allowing me to focus on healing and rebuilding my life.

If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign. Every bit of support, visibility, and solidarity makes a difference.

With thanks, love and gratitude,
Akira A. Amitayus
