Help Akemi Get Back on Her Feet After Losing her Family Home
Donation protected
We come together to support our dear friend Akemi Mayeda, who lost her family home in the devastating Palisades fire on January 7th. Her home was purchased in 1962 when her grandmother, her father, and his siblings pooled together their savings.
Akemi is one of the original members of the TENSHIN-KAI Karate Dojo. After over 30 years of training and teaching karate and Tai-chi, she earned her 3rd degree black belt in karate by sparring 50 opponents and 4th degree by creating her own kata (form).
Akemi is a double graduate of USC with a Master of Science in Gerontology and a Master of Art in East Asian Studies. Since 2005, Akemi has dedicated much time to teaching older adults how to fall safely.
She founded “Fall Smart” to lessen the chances of fatality and traumatic brain injury due to an unexpected fall.
We now come together to help Akemi recover from the loss of the only home she has ever known. Let us help her get back on her feet so that she can move forward.
Note: This campaign has been created by the members of the TENSHIN-KAI Karate Dojo on behalf of Akemi Mayeda, and all funds will be used to help Akemi recover after the loss of her home.
