Support African Queer Voices – Be Part of the Change!

Dear Friends and Allies,
My name is Yvan Herve Butera, founder of Kaze Film Festival, Kigali's self-organised queer film festival. I am now living in Cologne, and I’m reaching out with a request to support an event that holds immense significance for the African queer community.
On November 29th, 2024, we will host a special evening in Cologne to celebrate visibility, representation, and solidarity. This event will feature a screening of the groundbreaking film “Woubi Chéri”, followed by a talk where I’ll share the story of the festival and the challenges we’ve faced.
Sadly, due to unforeseen circumstances, the 2024 Kaze Film Festival couldn’t take place in Kigali. But we refuse to let these challenges silence the vital voices of African LGBTQIA+ people. By bringing this piece of Kaze to Cologne, we aim to amplify these stories and create a bridge of solidarity that transcends borders.
This event isn’t just a screening; it’s a statement of resilience and love for a community that continues to create, fight, and thrive against all odds. However, we can’t do this without you.
Your contributions will help cover:
The payment for Queer activists who couldn't paid due to the circumstances and Outreach and community engagement
Every euro you donate brings us closer to making this event a reality and ensures that African queer voices are heard and celebrated worldwide.
If you can’t attend, you can still stand in solidarity by contributing. Every donation, big or small, matters. Together, let’s show that love, art, and community are stronger than fear and prejudice.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support means the world to us.
With gratitude,
Yvan Herve Butera
