We have all been shaken by recent events here and around the world. If you are looking for a way to help, this is one meaningful way to make a real difference. In the treacherous mountains of the Tai Barkar area in Daykundi Province, Afghanistan, more than 500 families live in near isolation.

Due to years of war and ongoing crisis, many families are struggling to find enough food to survive. Hunger has become a daily reality, especially for children and women who have lost the heads of their families. 

With no government support and very limited resources, the community has come together to build a road with nothing but shovels and pickaxes. Many of those working are high school students who spend half their day studying and the other half digging this road, hoping to create a better future for their families and their village. 

The Afghan American Students Association (AASA) in Chicago has been supporting students in this village, but most of our members are already stretched beyond capacity helping family members back home.

We are asking for your help to provide basic food supplies such as flour, rice, and cooking oil for the families and students working on this project. They receive no payment for their hard work, yet they continue with hope and determination despite hunger and hardship.
