Support Afghan Family's New Start in East Texas
Donation protected
We're a group of East Texans partnering with the U.S. Welcome Corps to resettle an Afghan family of five, and we'd love your help!
The family fled Afghanistan in 2021 after years of religious and ethnic persecution. I met them in a nearby country and have been walking alongside them ever since. Their lives have been on hold for years — and we want to help them move to safety and thrive again.
Through the Welcome Corps, we committed to funding and supporting the family's first six months — twice the 90 days and $12,125 required by the Welcome Corps — with an aim toward independence and self-sufficiency. (Read more about Welcome Corps sponsorship here.) All funds received will be used for resettlement and startup costs, using the Welcome Corps-provided budget and spending best practices.
Please join us in helping this family's smooth transition to the U.S. Your donation will be used to secure safe housing, furnish their new home, provide transportation access, buy groceries and household items, and otherwise support the family while they find jobs, enroll in school, and become self-sufficient. You can also donate by purchasing household items off our Amazon wishlist.
The family is currently undergoing final screening by the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. We expect them to arrive before the end of 2024.
Join us in welcoming this family to East Texas!
[Note: On 10/18, we discovered GoFundMe's ability to enter "offline donations", so we added them all at once.]
