Help us welcome an Afghan family of 8 coming to the United States, Monday, June 2.

The United States promised safe passage and resettlement to Afghans assisting the U.S. military during the war in Afghanistan.

Who can forget the heart-wrenching images in 2021 of whole families left behind in the Kabul airport, as the last planes departed? Some of these allies have lived in fear and in hiding as the Taliban regained power.

The door to many immigrant groups is currently closing in the US. Mercifully, a small window of opportunity is allowing these Afghan (Special Immigrant Visa) holders enter the United States, as promised.

Airfare has already been provided through the organization No One Left Behind—a group of US Veterans dedicated to evacuating, resettling, and advocating for our wartime allies.

A group of local volunteers from Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is sponsoring this refugee family—2 parents with six children.

Our sponsor circle will be assisting this family with housing, medical care, education, transportation, employment, and cultural orientation.

Please consider donating financially to help us support this family in their first few months in Lancaster. Your donation will help cover the cost of rent and utilities until they are able to find jobs and become self-sufficient. It will cover basics like food upon arrival, immediate clothing, household items and expenses related to resettlement.

Due to recent changes, federal funds have become unavailable. Only private sponsorship and donations make this possible.

We have found Afghan refugees to the US eager and capable of working and becoming self-sufficient within a few months. Any funds raised in excess of this family’s needs will be distributed to other Afghan family resettlements in Lancaster County.
