Advocates for Trans Equality is on the brink of layoffs. Those losing their jobs have worked hard for trans liberation for years. As threats mount, these are the folks who have been creating infrastructure, organizing protests, telling stories, building relationships, and otherwise showing up, supporting, and defending our communities.

The money raised here will go to those dozen or more A4TE employees who get laid off--or who take voluntary separation without another job lined up--in the coming months, as a gift to thank them for their service. Let's show them some of the care they have shown our communities.

The money will first be held by someone who works at A4TE and who has not been told he will be laid off, who will then pass it on, divided evenly among those affected. In the unlikely event the layoffs are averted or the funds can't be distributed for some other reason, he will instead donate the money to For the Gworls. Note that this is an individual raising money for gifts to be passed on to other individuals. It is not a fundraiser by or for Advocates for Trans Equality, Union for Trans Liberation, or any other organization. Donations are not tax deductible.
