Hi, I'm Laurie Houser. I'm trying to seek some help for my son, Adam Houser. He is a 35 year old father of 2 kids.
About 10 years ago he had a major surgery and developed a hernia. The hernia ruptured in the abdomen wall. Now the pancreas won't produce enzymes to break down the food. He hasn't been able to eat or drink for several weeks without throwing up. Now he has to have an NJ feeding tube placed in the stomach to bypass the pancreas. After a couple weeks they need to put a stent in the pancreatic duct. Not sure how long the stent will be in. Then they are taking a piece of his small intestine and sewing it onto his pancreas to make another route for the enzymes to break down. He's in a hospital in Des Moines that can't do this kind of procedure. He's going to Iowa City where they have specialists. He went from 275lbs to 198lbs . Everything takes time because the pancreas is very inflamed and they can't do anything until it calms down. He misses his kids and working at the job he loves. Thank you everyone for taking the time to read our story.
