Support Adam and Ashlyn After Tragic Loss
Donation protected
The loss of a loved one is devastating at any age, but the loss of a child comes with an indescribable, excruciating amount of pain and emptiness. Although they still grieve, Adam and Ashlyn are both ready to share their story.
On June 17, 2023, Adam Carpenter and Ashlyn Haskell were married in Wells, Maine. In September, Ashlyn found out she was pregnant, and so began the realization of their dreams of starting a family. Over the next few months, she had many healthy doctor appointments as well as an ultrasound in January. A boy! Little Mason would arrive in mid-May. They were overjoyed. Ashlyn continued with her checkups and was feeling great. Pregnancy suited her. She even kept a journal with all of her experiences.
Adam and Ashlyn went shopping for clothes, diapers and baby furniture. They painted and decorated the nursery with love and care. They washed all the baby clothes and rearranged kitchen cabinets to store more baby gear. There was a baby shower on April 6, which added many more things needed to raise a baby. Life was perfect.
Ashlyn went to a routine doctor and ultrasound appointment on April 8, where everything still looked great. Later that evening she felt a little “off”. They decided to wait a day to see if anything changed. On the morning of April 10, Adam and Ashlyn received the devastating news that destroyed their world. The baby’s heart had stopped beating. He was no longer with us. Two days later, they entered the hospital and Ashlyn was induced.
On Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 6:21 pm, Mason Bradley Carpenter was delivered still born at 34 weeks gestation. He weighed 4 pounds and 8 ounces. Adam and Ashlyn were surrounded by their loving parents, who all got to hold Mason and say their goodbyes. A few close members of their church, as well as the wonderfully compassionate staff at Maine Medical Center in Portland, also helped them say their final goodbyes to their son.
Tests were later performed, but to this day, they still have no answers. There was nothing out of the ordinary with Ashlyn, Mason, or the pregnancy itself. A beautiful little urn and some memorial items now sit atop Mason’s dresser, a heartbreaking reminder of what should have been. As they both continue to navigate life while grieving the loss of their child and mounting hospital bills, please shower them with your prayers, positive thoughts and well wishes. They welcome any and all communication.
They share this now in the hopes that some of you may be able to help ease the financial burden of the past 5 months. They humbly ask, if at all possible, that you consider a donation to help defer the cost of these bills.
With love and many thanks,
