Abe, Anika and our little guys, Elliot and Torian!

My husband, Abe has always wanted to go to school to become a mechanic in some sort of capacity. We were quite excited when we discovered a school that offered night classes which would still allow him to work at his job while he pursued his dream. When he found out that he had been accepted into the aircraft maintenance technician program, he immediately reached out to his employer at the time in order to communicate properly. His previous employer assured him that nothing would change and that he would be able to continue to work there at the wage that he had. With this information we accepted the placement at the school and continued to live with excitement for the future.

Unfortunately this hope was short-lived as his previous employer messaged him the night before the first day of school to inform him that they would be modifying his wage and taking away privileges.

We were absolutely heartbroken and hopeless but persisted. We had faith that this was still the right path to take but unfortunately it forced us into selling our dream house as well as making many other sacrifices.

Time went on, his previous employer did nothing so we settled into our rental with the budget we expected to have for the remainder of the school year.

In spring my husband's father passed away and that same week my husband's previous employer reached out to him and started harassing him about cutting his wage again all while my husband was navigating the complex loss of his estranged father.

Abe ended up finding a different job but this also meant we would lose our health insurance, which is very crucial for us as I am a Type 1 Diabetic relying on life saving medication and medical devices after having had a seizure in my sleep several years prior.

The funds would cover the difference in monthly income that we are lacking for the next 12 months as well as any medical expenses that might arise.

Abe is the kindest, most caring person I know. He is an incredibly hands on father who makes time for our boys even when he is dead tired and discouraged by all that life has thrown at us this year.

However the last 8 months have broken him in ways I have never seen before. He leaves home at 6am to go to work and then hurries off to go to school until 11pm 4 days a week. He is sacrificing so much to give us a better life and we are so proud of him.

We are not the kind of people to ask for handouts and this has taken a lot of courage to share.
