Hi, my name is Samantha Baugous, and I’m starting this GoFundMe for my sweet niece, Aaliyah Iris.

Aaliyah is a vibrant, sassy, and incredibly brave 2-year-old who lights up every room she’s in. Over the past year, my brother (Christopher) and sister-in-law’s (Kimberly) world has been turned upside down as Aaliyah was diagnosed with Severe Neutropenia, a rare condition where her body cannot properly fight off infections. Doctors still don’t know the exact cause, and because of this, Aaliyah has faced a journey no toddler should have to endure. She has had, and continues to have, numerous doctor’s appointments, visits with specialists, and constant blood draws.

To protect her fragile immune system, Aaliyah has to remain isolated from family, friends, and everyday activities, especially during cold and flu season. While other little ones are running, playing, and exploring, Aaliyah’s world must stay small and carefully guarded just to keep her safe.

This fall, her doctors have recommended daily immunity therapy shots to give her body the chance to fight back against dangerous germs. These treatments bring hope, hope that she can begin to experience more of life outside the walls that protect her. But they also come at a very high cost.

We are reaching out with humble hearts to ask for your support. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward her shots, lab work, doctor visits, and the unexpected emergencies that come with such a rare condition. Your generosity helps lift some of the weight off her parents’ shoulders and gives Aaliyah the chance at a safer, brighter childhood.
