I never imagined I’d be writing something like this. As a mother and grandmother, it’s painful to watch my family be forced into a fight that should never have come to this point.

My daughter is a dedicated young mom. She’s balancing full-time work, college, and raising her baby — all without any financial or emotional help from the child’s father. When she asked for the most basic support, instead of stepping up, he retaliated.

Now, because he refuses to share fairly and has made clear he does not want to provide support, we are facing a trial that comes with a $15,000 legal bill. Without this, she risks losing what she’s worked so hard to give her child: love, stability, and a safe home.

What makes this even harder is knowing that people with influence and authority, who should be modeling fairness and compassion, are instead fueling division. It’s heartbreaking to see power used in ways that tear families apart instead of bringing them together.

For legal reasons, I am unable to share further details, as the other party has used intimidation and influence to try to silence us. But I will say this: my daughter should not have to stand alone when all she is asking for is what her child rightfully needs.
