Hello everyone,
My name is Allegra. I am currently helping a homeless mother in our town who is in a very tough and very time sensitive situation. In order to maintain their privacy I won’t be sharing their name. She is facing deportation. She is a candidate for a Greencard as her (estranged) husband is American, but it is a very complicated case that involves a lot, including deep poverty. Social services cannot help her due to her immigration status, nor will any NPO (in regards to their housing crisis). She has two young children the same age as my own babies. They are 2 and 4, and the thought of their mother, their sole caretaker being deported is unthinkable. They are living day to day right now.
The immediate help we need is to raise money to cover her Greencard costs, an attorney to take her case pro bono, and a social worker proficient in Nassau County DSS to assist us. I am hoping to raise enough to have enough for her to find housing. Their housing situation is dire, and her immigration status must be handled immediately. I am working hard to support this beautiful family. No child deserves to be hungry, deserves to be scared for a place to live, or live in fear of their mother being taken away because she can’t afford the paperwork. I know that we in Roslyn can come together and move mountains here. We are a community of compassionate people who help those in need. Please help me help this family. I have been doing everything I can personally but this is now bigger than me and I am reaching out for help.
