I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of a close family friend whose life and his family’s lives were turned upside down due to a series of strokes he recently experienced. This family friend does not have medical insurance, which has made this traumatic event exponentially more stressful. Below are words from his daughter, who has picked up a second job to contribute financially to their family’s needs in addition to caring for her father during his recovery, as before his sudden illness and hospitalization, he was the primary income provider.

“Everything changed for my family the day my dad had a stroke. One moment he was talking, laughing, and being his usual self — the next, our world was turned upside down. Seeing someone so strong, so full of love and life, suddenly lose his strength and mobility has been very heartbreaking for my family. The stroke affected his right side, making it difficult for him to walk and move the same way he used to, and it also impacted his vision, which has made daily life even more challenging.

My dad has always been the backbone of our family, a hardworking, devoted father who gives his all every single day to make sure we’re okay. Now, he’s the one who needs help, and we’re doing everything we can to be there for him while he recovers. Before all this, he loved being outdoors — especially fishing and spending time in his garden taking care of his plants. Those peaceful moments meant so much to him, and we’re hopeful he’ll be able to enjoy them again soon.

He’s still in the early stages of recovery and has a long road ahead before he’s able to start doing the things he loves again. Right now, every day is focused on keeping him stable, comfortable, and supported while we prepare for the next steps of his healing journey. We’re asking for help during this difficult time to help cover medical costs and basic needs. Every donation will go directly toward his recovery and helping him get one step closer to regaining his strength.”

Your donation means so much to this family as they pick up the pieces of their lives after this tragic event. No one should have to worry about increasing medical debts and taking on additional jobs while simultaneously caring for a loved one. Yet, this family has endured stresses from all angles while trying to prioritize their father’s recovery. The holidays are also near, which always puts additional stress onto families in need.

Below is a breakdown of all costs accrued to-date as well as anticipated costs through 6-months of recovery/rehabilitation, totalling $80,000.00. Funds will be distributed between monthly bills and paying off medical debts. Every little bit helps!
