I'm a homeless veteran living in a veterans shelter in Boston. I just returned back from Texas after 6 years. My case manager suggested I do this while I'm waiting on my disability to come through the V.A. like everyone, I have had challenges in life, but mine has been difficult since being a young child. Was beaten by my father and my mother kidnapped me and took me to Germany to protect me. Upon returning to the U.S., I witnessed her being arrested for that. I enlisted in the Air Force shortly after in which my senior NCO was hard on me as I had a difficulty with book learning. I came off active duty and my first son died during child birth. After months of counseling, I joined the Army National guard. In 2003, I divorced my wife as we had gone separate ways in our wants in our marriage. I fell in love with another woman and we were together for 10 years before she died from her organs shutting down due to alcoholism. I attempted to move on but got involved with another alcoholic. That turned into a violent relationship, so I moved in with family until I reconnected with a woman whose sister I went to school with in Germany. That relationship was wonderful and lasted 8 years. After 6 years living together, her daughter went through a nasty divorce and had no place to go. I was asked to leave so that her daughter and grandkids could move in. My brother died last September all alone and I didn't want the same to happen to me, so I moved back to Massachusetts to be around what little family I have left. My expectations were high, but reality set in and have had a hard time finding a job or place to live. I'm currently in a veterans shelter in Boston, which is not good living conditions. I have multiple bills every month that include a car payment, car insurance, credit card payment, phone bill, and a emergency room bill I need to pay. I'm not sure where the road will lead me in what's left of my life, I'm praying that the next step is in a happy place. At 57 years of age, I've had my challenges, but feel anything is possible with a little help.
