We are members of the Seattle community raising funds to support Carlos and his family during an immigration crisis. Carlos is a devoted father of three and a husband who came to the United States seeking asylum after facing life-threatening conditions in El Salvador. From the beginning, Carlos followed all procedures required by the U.S. government and worked hard to ensure he had the proper documentation before seeking employment, even waiting over a year to work so he could remain fully compliant with the law.

In November, Carlos went to the courthouse for a routine asylum check-in and was detained by ICE. He is currently being held at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma while awaiting his asylum hearing, which is scheduled for February. Carlos has never been convicted of any crime, either in the United States or in El Salvador, and there is no justified reason for his prolonged detention.

Carlos has now been separated from his wife and children for over two months. His detention has placed an enormous emotional and financial strain on his family, who are left without their primary provider. We are raising funds to help cover immigration legal fees, rent, and basic living expenses for his family, as well as essential needs for Carlos while he remains in detention.

This fundraiser is about community support, family unity, and helping a hardworking father remain with the people who depend on him. Any contribution, large or small, will help relieve the immediate burden on Carlos’ family and support the fight to bring him home.
