My mom had a devastating blow to her life, less than 24 hours after her completely remodeled home hit the market and she was set to retire. An unexpected storm smashed a tree through her home, resulting in multiple days of water damage.

All of her money went into preparing the home for a buyer, which now has devastated her financially. Her home is not livable, and any income from SS must still cover her mortgage. Her obligation to keep the power and lights on while the repairs occur is looming.
