Help an Abused Dog Heal and Find a Second Chance
On a scorching summer day in Utica, NY, witnesses saw something no animal should ever endure. A man on a bicycle was dragging a starving dog through the Parkway in 90° heat. The pavement burned his paws with every step. Once they reached Proctor Park, the man abandoned him and left without a glance.
The police were called, but no action was taken. This broken, exhausted dog was left alone — until I got the call.
When I brought him into my care, I was heartbroken. He’s a bully-type pup, weighing only 33 pounds, with every rib visible. He is severely underweight, dehydrated, and suffering from painful burns on his paw pads. And yet, despite everything, he greeted me with gentle eyes and a tail that still tried to wag.
The Road to Recovery
This week, he will see the vet to:
Begin a full vaccine regimen
Treat his burns and dehydration
Start a healthy weight-gain plan
Begin the process toward neutering
Address any other medical needs
Once he is medically stable, I’ll begin working on his training so he’s ready for the safe, loving home he deserves.
How You Can Help
I will provide him with the care he needs no matter what — but community support will help cover the cost of his medical treatment, proper nutrition, and training supplies. Every contribution, no matter how small, goes directly toward giving him the second chance he deserves.
If you’re not able to donate, sharing his story is just as powerful in helping us find the person responsible and in getting him the support he needs.
This sweet dog has been failed by humans before, but together, we can show him that kindness wins. ❤️
Thank you for reading, sharing, and caring.
