Hi,
I am trying to raise money for some dear friends of mine. They have been deeply affected by the currently situation in Minneapolis Minnesota. For their protection, I will not be posting any identifying information regarding the family. I will however tell you that they are some of the most beautiful people I have ever met. There is a mother who is 38 almost 39 weeks pregnant as of today 1/18/26. Her husband, their young daughter. In the family home there is also their mother, sister and two more young children. They have been unable to leave the home and work. Their home is very deep in the chaos, and very close to some of the ICE incidents that have made international news. I have been helping this family by delivering groceries, helping coordinate medical care for Mom and baby and more. So far, the community helped us raise $2,000 and an infant car seat. We are so eternally grateful. However, we are not out of the woods yet. They will still need groceries and rent in the time to come. We are also in panic mode trying to scramble and get things for the baby. We are in need of infant clothing and baby items. She had only bought a few infant outfits, and we just realized they were the wrong size.
If you can donate even a small amount to this family, you would be helping tremendously. Things are so dark and scary right now- But I am so proud of my community for coming together in the subzero temperatures to help.
I have been through a lot in life, as I am sure you can all relate. If I have learned anything it is that when you are in a scary unknown place of darkness, it is the people who share their light with you and show you compassion that make all the difference. This family has always been willing to help me and share their light. It is my turn now. So, if you have any light to share, please do.
The kids are getting so stir crazy. They are out of school due to MSP moving to online after the students and teachers were brutally attacked by ICE. They are scared and they are bored. They are literally in the dark. In their home, with the lights out so ICE does not come knocking on their door. All night long, they do not sleep. They listen to sirens, and drones, and helicopters, and whistles and screaming.
Please connect with me if you are part of a local mutual aid effort and willing to help out in person with a mission to get Mom, Dad and baby safely home from the hospital in the coming days or weeks.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Please, if you cannot help- share. If you can help, thank you.
Stay safe. Stay connected. Watch out for your neighbors.
