For the first time in many years, our sister Beth and her children are finally safe.

In November 2023, after a fifteen-year marriage marked by domestic violence and coercive control, Beth courageously chose to leave and seek safety for herself and her family by reporting the abuse to police. A strong no-contact order was immediately put in place, and her ex-husband was charged with multiple counts of domestic violence. After a further eight months of investigation, he was also charged with numerous sexual assault offences against Beth. In April 2026, a nine-day trial was held. He was found guilty on every charge and is now in prison awaiting sentencing.

Convictions like this are rare. For Beth to face her abuser in a court of law took extreme courage and strength that has taken a big toll on her both physically and mentally. She can now start the slow process of recovery and healing, however the practical pressures of everyday life are still very much present.

For nearly three years, Beth has carried the daily weight of parenting largely on her own. Full-time care of six children with school and sport runs, medical appointments and carrying emotional and spiritual needs as well as the invisible weight of trauma. Alongside this, she has been studying from home, working towards future financial stability for her family.

As a family of seven, money is very tight.

Beth budgets carefully and asks for very little. Child support from her ex-husband has now stopped due to him being in prison. This will be a significant drop in funds and alongside the high cost of living and the ongoing needs of six growing children, it has created real financial stress. Even with ongoing support from family and friends, it’s no longer possible to cover the gap without help from the wider community.

Some of her immediate financial concerns include:

  • Rent
  • Electricity bill debt from last winter
  • Food and everyday living costs
  • Clothing, shoes and uniforms for growing children
  • School fees & extracurricular activities
  • Car, fuel and services / maintenance
  • Medical, paediatric, and assessment costs for the kids who need extra support
  • Ongoing trauma therapy, as victim support funding has now ended
  • Essential health expenses, including orthodontic care

This GoFundMe has been set up as a practical way for friends, family and wider community to support and care for our beautiful sister Beth, and her children during this time, and as they heal and move forward.

If you’re in a position to give, any contribution will make a real and immediate difference, no matter how small.

If giving isn’t possible, sharing this page is also a meaningful way to help.

Beth has many years ahead raising her children, and any funds not immediately needed will be carefully set aside to support their future.

Thank you for standing with Beth and her family. We are so grateful for any and all contributions, and for all the kindness, care and support she has already received throughout this time.
