Hello, my name is Mayela Peña, and I’m the mother of a beautiful little girl, Alexandra Peña.
In April of 2025, I escaped a domestic violence marriage. Two of my children were taken by their father and CPS in October of 2024. Then, on Alexandra’s first birthday—November 22—her uncle violently shook and threw her into her crib, twice. She suffered a fractured skull and leg and was diagnosed with Shaken Baby Syndrome, leaving her partially paralyzed on the left side of her body.
I am survivor of domestic violence and since moved from North Carolina to California to rebuild and be closer to my children in Las Vegas, but it’s a 9-hour drive, and travel and lodging costs in Clark County are more than I can manage alone.
I’m asking for help. Any donation will go toward travel expenses, accommodations, and the ability to stay present in Alexandra’s life as she heals.
If you cannot give, please pray for Alexandra, and share our story. Help raise awareness of Shaken Baby Syndrome and promote the 10-10-10 rule—so this doesn’t happen to another child.
Thank you for your time, your heart, and your kindness.
