Support A Mom’s Journey to Freedom from Abuse

Hi, my name is Rachel, and I’m reaching out to ask for support for a dear friend, I've known since childhood, who is bravely leaving a 16-year marriage to an emotionally and physically abusive partner. They met in college and he was her first love, yet everything changed following marriage. After years of enduring manipulation, control, and infidelity, she made the courageous decision to separate, hoping to find peace and a cooperative co-parenting arrangement. Sadly, the situation only escalated.

Throughout their separation, her ex-partner’s behavior grew more toxic, emotionally manipulating her, destroying her self-esteem, and becoming increasingly violent with the kids. It all escalated to a breaking point when he became very physically abusive toward one of their children, forcing her to file a protective order. He hasn’t returned home since.

Now finalizing the divorce, she is facing enormous legal fees, significant credit card debt, emotional distress, and the difficult task of finding employment after dedicating herself to raising her five children—one of whom has a rare genetic disease and requires constant care.

In the aftermath, he drained their joint bank account and withdrew a large portion of their retirement savings, omitted income and accounts when reaching a divorce settlement, and—to her surprise—left many of their bills and credit card debts in her name due to his poor credit, further exacerbating her financial struggles. She and the kids will soon need to move out of their home into a smaller place.

As she works to rebuild her life, she needs help with basic expenses, supporting her children, paying back debts, moving out, and taking the next steps toward healing and independence. Any support—whether through donations or prayers—would mean the world to her during this incredibly challenging time.
