This fundraiser is being organised by Avicenna Lawyers to support the funeral and memorial expenses of Mr Amamuddin Sadar, who tragically lost his life in the Merrylands stabbing on 17 February 2026. The fundraiser is being conducted with the support of first responder Mr Bellal Amani.

On 17 February 2026, a violent stabbing occurred in the Merrylands shopping precinct in Western Sydney. Mr Amani was among the first individuals to respond at the scene.

In a moment of chaos and immediate danger, Mr Amani assisted an injured woman who had sustained a serious neck wound. He used a fleece jacket to apply direct pressure to her neck to reduce blood loss and help stabilise her condition until ambulance crews arrived.

What he witnessed that morning was confronting and traumatic. Consistent with his character, Mr Amani has made it clear that he does not wish to receive financial support for himself. Instead, he has asked that any funds raised be directed toward ensuring Mr Sadar is afforded dignity in death.

All funds raised will be directed toward Mr Sadar's funeral, memorial expenses, and any other immediate needs. Mr Sadar had no immediate family in Australia and was the sole financial provider for his immediate family in Afghanistan. For the purpose of facilitating payment, the nominated beneficiary on the fundraiser is Mr Sadar’s mother, Ala Gul Qeyam. She has recently arrived in Australia to attend her late son’s funeral and has been assisted in establishing an Australian bank account to receive the funds. This fundraiser seeks to ensure his parents receive meaningful assistance during this difficult time.

Mr Amani stepped forward to help a stranger in a critical moment. This fundraiser is an opportunity for the community to come together, show compassion, provide practical support, and honour Mr Sadar's life.
