Hi there!
I’m Iesha Baldwin, Creator and Author of the Outdoor Chick Adventures book series, a children’s series designed to inspire outdoor play and curiosity about the natural world.
Why I started this series
As a child, I spent nearly every moment outside.
I rode my bike in the yard, made mud pies, and explored colors in plants and rocks.
Outdoor play was how I learned about nature, developed creativity, and connected with others.
Sadly, that magic of outdoor exploration has become rare for many children in the U.S.
I couldn’t imagine a childhood filled with screens but without sunlight and starlight, but for many children today, this is the reality.
Why this book series matters
I believe in taking action when I see a problem.
That’s why I created Outdoor Chick Adventures: to help children reconnect with nature and encourage safe outdoor play.
My hope is that these books can become a cultural storytelling tool that drives local, state, and national policies and provides more children with safe spaces to ride their bikes, fish, picnic, and explore.
This is my vision.
This is my hope.
How you can get involved
If you want to join this movement, please contact me or consider donating to support this cause.
If you’re in Atlanta, Georgia, and your elementary school or local library is interested in nature-inspired books, especially ones celebrating our local landscapes, I’d love to connect!
Donations will support the following:
- Book development (3 books)
- Hiring a part-time Community Engagement & Partnerships Manager to lead outdoor play campaigns (a role many in the community have expressed interest in)
- Hiring a part-time Operations Manager to assist with book distribution (if you are interested in this role, please reach out to me!)
Together, we can help children experience the joy and wonder of outdoor play.
Signed,
Iesha Baldwin
