My name is Alaa Radwan, a Palestinian writer, teacher, and translator from Gaza. I am also a mother of three small children.

I have received an unconditional offer to study a Master by Research in Media and Communications at Goldsmiths, University of London, beginning in September 2026. This opportunity is more than an academic milestone for me.

I have spent years teaching, translating, and writing about Gaza and Palestinian life. Education has always been the path I believed in, the way to rebuild, to speak truth, and to create opportunities even in the darkest circumstances. This master's program will allow me to continue that work and open a path for a better future for my children.

However, the financial costs of making this move are extremely high for a family in our situation.

We are trying to raise funds to cover essential visa and education costs, including:

Visa application fees for our family:

£524 per person × 5 people (me, my husband, and our three children) = £2,620

Immigration Health Surcharge (required for the visa):

£776 per person × 5 people = £3,880

50% of the tuition fees for the program:

£10,500

Total fundraising goal: £17,000 approximately
