I'm raising funds for a close friend of mine and her two children, a 14-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter. I lived with them in the house for a few years, and I have seen how much this home has meant to them over the last 7 years.

They recently received a notice to vacate by November 30, 2026. This is not an eviction. The house needs extensive repairs, including major electrical work, foundation repairs, and complete replacement of the water pipes. Until those problems are fixed and the property is brought up to city housing standards, it cannot legally be lived in.

For my friend and her kids, this has become overwhelmingly stressful. They are trying to manage everyday life while also facing the reality of having to leave the home they have known for years. My friend is working, both kids are in school full time, and all three are on state aid. She has already tried to apply for housing assistance, but applications are not being accepted right now. That has left her trying to juggle packing, searching for affordable housing, applying for any help she can find, and keeping up with bills all at once.

Any support will help ease some of that pressure. Donations will go toward storage and moving costs, a security deposit, first month's rent, and help with bills during this transition.
