Help a Youth Formerly in Foster Care in her College Journey

Donation protected
In the spring of 2023, I met an amazing young woman who was aging out of foster care and had been accepted to Virginia Commonwealth University to pursue her dream of a career in Psychology. This young woman was telling her story in a very public setting and had the bravery to be fully vulnerable to allow us to understand her experience. My immediate reaction was that I had to introduce myself to her and let her know that I saw her, believed in her, and wanted to help. I walked up to her and offered to take her to breakfast, and she accepted. Over that meal, I got to know her more personally and it only deepened my commitment to support her, on her terms.

This young woman has had a successful first year of college and recently found out that her scholarship money will not cover her food plan next year. It is now my mission to raise the funds to pay for her food security for the year so that she can concentrate on her studies and emotional journey. Only 3-4% of youth who experience foster care go on to graduate from a 4 year University. This young woman is beating the odds!

This young woman desires to keep her identity private, but I can assure you all that I will shepherd these funds directly into her student account to pay for the meal plan.

Please consider donating even 10 dollars and consider it YOU taking her out to breakfast. This young lady is going to do good things for this world and is churning her pain into healing for others. Please help me in helping her make this second year of college even better than the first.
