A Father’s Promise: Fighting for the Future My Daughter Deserves

I’m writing this with a heavy heart, just hours after leaving the courthouse in Winnemucca. Today was a day I never thought I’d see—a day where truth was admitted, but justice was ignored.

In court today, the other parent stood on the stand and unabashedly admitted to lying about her financials. She confessed to taking our daughter out of state, withholding her for four months, specifically to keep her away from me. She even admitted that the only way she would let me see my daughter during that time was if I gave her money.

I presented evidence of extreme medical neglect, and even though the judge saw it, it didn't seem to carry the weight with which it should. The only thing that seemed to matter was that I moved from Winnemucca to Sparks. We had only lived in Winnemucca for a single year, yet that one year was somehow used to justify taking her away from the stable home I’d built for her. My heart shattered as a clear precedence was set when the judge dismissed my daughter's acceptance into an incredible charter school, telling me that 'kindergarten is not important.' To me, her education, her health, and her future happiness are everything. I want her to know that she is worth fighting for.

In this endeavor I have already paid out over $30,000 in legal fees, exhausted every avenue, followed every rule, and given quite literally everything I have to this battle. But even still, as of today’s ruling, I have been officially relegated to an 'every other weekend' father.

The court has allotted me 30 days to file an appeal and a Motion for Reconsideration. My goal in this time is to raise funds immediately for a specialized appellate attorney who can fight this clearly biased ruling.

Now at my breaking point, I must swallow a bit of pride and beg for your help. I cannot let her grow up thinking that extortion, neglect, and dishonesty win the day.
