Hello everyone, family and friends

My name is Matilda Cardinal, and I want to share my brother’s story.

Writing this isn’t easy. Asking for help doesn’t come naturally to me, and sharing such personal details makes me feel vulnerable. However, today I choose courage over fear because someone I love needs support.

My brother, Paulo, has faced many challenges recently. A month ago, he fell really ill and was hospitalised with a severe case of tuberculosis (TB) that nearly took his life. Although he is now slowly recovering, his wife sadly passed away last week. He now faces the difficult task of healing while caring for their four young children alone.

Paulo is doing his best to stay strong. He isn’t able to return to work until he fully recovers. The challenges ahead are significant- emotionally, physically, and financially.

I’ve created this GoFundMe to help lighten some of that burden and support Paulo and the children during this immensely hard time.

Your generosity will help with:

• Funeral costs

• Basic living expenses (food, shelter, utilities)

• Children’s needs, clothing, and daily essentials

• Stabilising their home as they start rebuilding their lives after this loss

Since GoFundMe isn't available in Papua New Guinea, I will collect the funds on Paulo’s behalf and ensure every dollar is safely transferred to him to support his recovery and care for his children.
