Tl;dr: moving states following trauma
About a decade ago, I received a friend request and message from my long-lost cousin, the daughter of the forbidden brother cast out for his toxic behavior by nearly everyone in his life including her. Unsure of how the rest of us might be, she sent it anyway, and unsure of how she might be, I accepted; we met up and the rest is history. This act was just one of many acts of bravery and profound love that she has displayed throughout her life and relationships keeping myself and my husband in constant awe; our connection since has been wildly rewarding and hugely influential. She and her family deserve the world, which is why I’m here attempting to mobilize our collectively powerful network of love and support in a moment of need.
In the time that I have known her, she left her abusive husband, remarried an amazing person, seamlessly integrated and grew as a family, and has been working tirelessly in efforts to provide a stable home where everyone can thrive. All the while, she has also been fighting what one might argue is litigious abuse in family court with her ex using any means possible to disturb her life and drain her resources. In the latest string of garbage, last year her ex violated their parenting plan by withholding the children from her for *five months* following his scheduled weekend visit until ordered to comply in court. During that five months he withheld not only contact between them and their mother & stepparent, their siblings and regular friends, but also their medical care providers and regimens believing their needs to be fabricated to weaponize against him. This has understandingly left a devastating and cascading impact in their well-being and that of the whole family.
But of course, she and her partner have continued to advocate and provide for their family as fiercely if not more so than ever in the aftermath. Today, one child needs intensive care, while the rest of the family needs a clean start; and so rather than simply ship him off to receive treatment in another state, the family is moving to be close to him and his care team. The problem is that moving nearly 900 miles is no small feat for even a small family; in this family, there are two adults, five children, two dogs, and two cats to move so that everyone can begin to heal together.
Hence the mobilization attempt through GFM. The dollar figure is calculated to cover moving expenses and fees. Any bit you can contribute, monetarily or algorithmically, is greatly appreciated <3 <3
