This fundraiser was started to help a long time family friend in Healdsburg, California who recently experienced the horror of deportation. We are keeping the family’s name anonymous to preserve their safety and privacy.
On the morning of August 4th, 2020, our friend was taken by ICE from her workplace in Healdsburg, CA. She was detained and swiftly taken to San Francisco and by the afternoon we learned that she would be deported to Tijuana, Mexico, by midnight.
The unconscionable act enacted by ICE against our friend has been extremely traumatic for her family. She has been separated from her four children, three of them being minors. As a single mother of four, this leaves her children in a vulnerable position. The funds raised will go directly to her oldest son to help cover their monthly expenses and keep her children in their home. Financial support will provide some relief to the family as they deal with the hardship of this situation. We appreciate donations of any amount.
In the midst of a global pandemic, ICE continues to detain and deport immigrants who are merely trying to provide for their families. ICE is not only spurring a series of traumatic events but is also recklessly exposing detainees to COVID-19, furthering the international spread of COVID-19. Your support will help combat the terror that ICE perpetuates.
