Support a Family Left Homeless by Infestation
Donation protected
My mom and I have been living with my sister’s boyfriend’s family for the past year, but we had to move out by June 30th. After a long search, we finally found an apartment that we liked and decided to go ahead with the lease. We thoroughly inspected the apartment for any signs of infestation and found nothing. We moved all of our belongings in, and at that point, everything we owned was already inside. However, while we were still moving in, we discovered a serious infestation of German cockroaches. We immediately stopped the move, but unfortunately, most of our things had already been brought inside.
We had to stay at a hotel for two nights, and now, we find ourselves homeless. To make matters worse, the exterminator has advised us to throw away everything we brought into the apartment—our beds, TVs, kitchen appliances, dressers, and even items with deep sentimental value that we can never replace.
With my mom on social security disability, we are a low-income household, and we have nowhere to go. We're in contact with an attorney and doing our best to pursue legal action, but money is incredibly tight. Our belongings must be out of the apartment by July 6th, and we have no idea where we will go next.
Your donation, no matter how big or small, will go directly toward finding a place to live and getting us back on our feet. We are deeply grateful for any assistance you can provide—your kindness means more than we can express. Thank you for helping us in this time of need
