There is a local family in our community who are facing an incredibly difficult time. I work with their young child, who has a disability. Recently, their situation became even more challenging when the child’s father was deported, leaving the mother to care for her child on her own. She is currently unemployed and struggling to meet basic needs, including rent, gas, food, and diapers.

The mother speaks Mam, a Mayan dialect from Guatemala, which creates significant barriers to accessing employment opportunities and social services in our community. Despite her strength and determination, these challenges have made it extremely difficult for her to secure the support her family needs.

Without assistance, this family may be forced to return to Guatemala, where their child would lose access to essential educational and therapeutic supports. Funds raised will go directly toward basic necessities such as rent, food, Pediasure, gas, diapers, yogurt, and fruit, helping the family remain in the community so their child can continue receiving critical care and services.
