URGENT: Disabled Family Facing Eviction — We Need the Community NOW

God’s Loving Hands Feeding the Homeless Inc. is urgently rallying support for a disabled family of three who are on the brink of losing their home. All three family members live with serious disabilities, and despite paying their rent every month, their landlord has refused to accept their payments and has instead filed the matter into the courts.

The landlord has announced a massive rent increase from $1,200 to $3,000 per month — far beyond what this family can afford. This increase was given verbally, not in writing, and the unit itself is not worth the inflated amount being demanded. They now have less than 60 days to leave the property or face a forced removal by PBSO, which would result in all of their belongings being thrown onto the street.

This situation is life-threatening. One family member has severe asthma and requires a cool, stable environment. When the landlord refused to repair the AC, the family had to purchase their own unit just to breathe safely. Being pushed into the Florida heat with no accessible housing lined up puts their health — and their lives — at risk.

GLH is working to secure a wheelchair-accessible home where this family can live safely, with dignity, and without fear of being thrown out due to predatory rent hikes. But we cannot do this alone.
