My Dream, My Nightmare
Louis and his two children Sophia 7 and Leo 4, sadly lost their wife and mother Amanda after she fell from height off of a ladder.
I began this go fund simply to give awareness and for those who can, to make a donation for the family, to give them some financial stability for the tough times ahead.
As a father and close friend to the family, I began to Journal my feelings …

We moved to Costa Rica with a 7 month plan
To be present
To be a family unit
To give our children the opportunity to embrace a school environment
To explore a purpose and happiness
Within days of arriving, we were overwhelmed with finding somewhere magical. Thoughts and feelings of our future I had never felt before. Mid 30s with 3 children and a child on the way and for the first time, feeling, seeing and believing in our future.. wow.
The main reason, hands down, was because of a great friendship made.
Louis. Open, transparent, helpful, friendly and from our first conversation I knew id found a great person and he backed our first encounter by:
- taking us to the markets and translating
- spending a day with me to buy a car
- inviting us to a beach day to celebrate his wife's birthday
- inviting us to his son's birthday
- inviting us to see his beautiful dream home in the making which made me and my family dream...
- land
- river
- abundance of food growing
- nature
- space
- a family home
- a children's park
- love
It has it all and me and my family began to see the future we clearly wanted for ourselves.
Not only this, Louis has helped us meet friends, find help, explore life, help our family when they visit, book restaurants for us, give us advice on the local areas, give us insight into ways to adapt. He also shares wisdom, gratitude, love, deepness, awareness and all of the meaningful beautiful things that really matter in life. I saw in him what i could now see was my future self.
Behind every great man is a great woman.
His wife Amanda resembled so much of my amazing partner. Not only was she taller than him too, she was nurturing, caring, gentle, beautiful and I could see why Louis was and is the man he is.. because he has an amazing life partner just like I have. It was so interesting exploring this new friendship.. it felt like some type of confirmation bias as there were so many similarities.
The first time we went to their home, their future, I was blown away. The passion, the beauty, the hospitality, the warmth in meeting his beautiful family.. me and my family spent days dreaming of our future like never before as we were inspired.
I could honestly go on and on.
The day before Amanda's passing, I asked Amour my eldest daughter what she would like to do that day.. "go to uncle Louis house and see Sophia", so that's what we did.
We had a wonderful day as ever discussing life, our futures and journeys, and when I left I received the biggest hug by Amanda and I remembered thinking wow, I feel like she is my sister.
Later that evening i met with Louis and we discussed being father's, partners and striving to provide.
The squeeze Amanda gave me that day as I left her was the last moment we shared before she sadly passed 24 hours later.
Me and my family have spent a couple odlf days after her passing, supporting Louis and his 2 beautiful children and I can not describe the emotions I have felt, let alone that I have witnessed and can not imagine what they are and will go through.
In those heart wrenching moments, I experienced feelings and thoughts I have never felt.
All the noise in my life left me and all that was left was clarity for my journey.. right now, to serve.
Louis's dream family home, his children futures, his vision and journey have been turned upside down. His wife home schooled, looked after the house, made their family meals, much more and was their rock.
Me and my family have been providing him as much support as possible, but this has only given us an awareness to the mountain that he and his children now have to climb.
I personally have had to see and hear of a lot of heart ache in the last few months, yet am so greatful to still have a beautiful family, a beautiful new son, and thanks to Louis, have a a much clearer vision ahead for me and my family.
Therefore I ask for everyone's support if your able to, any how. This is the first time attempting to raise money and awareness.
If anyone can give me insight to this please do.
He needs time to grieve and asses the situation which is not easy as he has no immediate family in Costa Rica. Me and my family will provide all the support, emotionally, time and love we can but I simply can not leave this beautiful family to not continue to inspire others and to live their dreams.
I want to help raise enough money:
- So his children can go to school as they were home schooled by their mother. (The children do not speak Spanish to well at the minute so ideally they will go to a bi lingual school which comes at a cost).
- To raise enough money so he can continue to finish building their home
- (I'm not aware fully of these costs but ideally I'd like to raise enough money so he can financially support his family for the next few months to allow them to re group which may include leaving the house and renting closer to a school for 6 months)
Louis Hernandez, your a great man. Your path has taken a turn which has shaken your life and you will become a new version which I will do my upmost to give you the best support and start possible.
