I am a Domestic Violence Survivor since 2010. My daughter is also a Survivor since the same. We need some support, as my immediate family does not accept that we went through this tragedy, and have been emotionally abusive (the longterm root of my now healed situation). I was laid off a grant-funded career position in September 2024. I am an experienced marketing professional, but I am 54. My daughter is 15. Unemployment pays have run out as of March 25.
We are facing rent arrears and have to secure food benefits (I’ve been denied twice, as the system saw unearned income) of which I have none. We need to keep our Wi-Fi on, so I can find a job (due May 9). I have no partner in over 15 years, no benefits, have depleted my 401K to pay rent, $30 to my name. I am diligently seeking any job, with an updated resume. Next January, we have to fight and apply for the second time in three years since 2023, against the offender getting parole ( before release date of 2037, in Virginia). If he is out, we will be in danger of being dead from him, and I fear for any other victims he will affect.
I feel I am close to getting something for employment, but we certainly need a real, genuine boost so that we do not lose everything. My daughter is in softball, getting above average grades, and all I want is to thrive together. We have overcome PTSD, but it still affects us. We are compassionate, strong character, and open minded. I hope your donation can be a tax deduction. I’m trying to not stop believing It’s A Wonderful Life.
