Support a Dad’s Journey to His Children

My name is Peter, and I struggled with alcohol addiction, but I have since joined an Intensive Outpatient Program for substance abuse. I’m just about finished with the program and am almost 3 months sober.

But this fundraiser isn’t about me; it’s about a gentleman I met in the program, someone who has over 6 months of sobriety and has always put out his hand to help anyone who was struggling. He especially helped me when I was in a very dark place.

The purpose of this fundraiser is to help him get the funds to be able to fly from Rhode Island to Florida to see his kids on July 15th. This is very important to this individual to be able to get to see his kids before his hearing at court and jail sentence. His kids know he’s in trouble from his past, but what they don’t know is that he is facing several years in jail because of his addiction and where it led him. This is a conversation he wants to have with his kids in person and spend time with them before he is sentenced.

He was denied all unemployment assistance and is struggling to find odd jobs in between AA meetings, speaking at sober events, and working the program he is in. I feel the need to help this gentleman because he would do the same for anyone else, and his kids are his world. I have never met a more kind, caring, passionate, helpful, and sincere individual. He has helped so many people in so many ways; it’s time someone helps him.

These funds will help pay for his plane tickets, hotel, and rental car. Let’s give my friend's kids the opportunity to hug and hold their role model before they can’t and be with the person they love the most and look up to so much.
