Hi, my name is Nina Beveridge and I have had the privilege of touring through Namibia with Herman Liyambo as my guide. It was an unforgettable journey! I have visited the location of Herman's dream project in Swakopmund - The Kabin Pub & Grill. Every local small business that gets support directs valuable funds into local jobs that truly make a difference. Herman is passionate about giving back to his community by running his restaurant- a place he can welcome visitors to and share Namibian culture with PLUS Herman will share a portion of the restaurant proceeds to support local school children.

Please read the following story from Herman.

It was a true privilege to have guided you through our beautiful country, Namibia, and I remain deeply grateful for the memories we shared during your visit.

Today, I’m excited to share a community project that is very close to my heart. I have started building a small local shabeen-style restaurant in Swakopmund called The Kabin Pub & Grill, where I serve traditional Namibian food to both locals and visitors.

As a professional tour guide, my vision goes beyond creating a warm and welcoming space for cultural exchange — I want this project to give back to the community that raised me. My goal is to use part of the restaurant’s income to provide school uniforms and learning materials to at least five disadvantaged children each year, with the hope of expanding that number as the business grows.

The aim is to ensure that the benefits of tourism reach everyone — especially children — not only those directly employed in the industry.

To complete the setup of the restaurant, including roofing and other essential structures, the estimated budget is N$93,000. I have already contributed as much as I can personally and now kindly reach out to my former guests, friends, and family who may wish to support this initiative.

When we are ready to launch our new restaurant we will present a gift to the community by providing the first five local school children with new uniforms and learning materials.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will help bring this dream to life. Your support is completely voluntary, and your kindness will always be appreciated but never expected.

As a token of gratitude, supporters are invited to share their full postal address so we can send a small gift from Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, or Zambia. Additionally, anyone who visits Namibia in the future will receive a free traditional meal at The Kabin Pub & Grill as our way of saying thank you.

Thank you sincerely for considering this request. I look forward to welcoming you one day to The Kabin Pub & Grill, where you’ll not only enjoy an authentic Namibian meal but also witness how your support helps uplift children in our community.

With warm regards and gratitude,

Herman Mwene Opoeli Iiyambo
