When we drive around San Antonio, my 7-year-old son notices every person in need — and his heart is truly something special. Anytime he sees someone experiencing homelessness, he wants to give whatever he can. There have even been moments when we’ve stopped at H-E-B, picked up a loaf of bread and some peanut butter, and made sandwiches right there in the parking lot so he could hand them out.
This year, he came up with an idea all on his own: he wants to put together simple sack lunches and hygiene bags to give out at Christmas.
Here are the items he hopes to include:
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- A comb
- A blanket
- Socks
- A peanut butter sandwich
- Chips
- Water
