Support a Black Queer Community Organizer Facing Burnout

Hello friends & loved ones,
I’m here with a vulnerable share and a big ask as I navigate a challenging moment in my journey as a community organizer. For the past 4+ years, I’ve poured my heart into creating spaces for queer folks to play, heal, create art, and connect — and it’s been a great honor. But can I be honest with yall? I’m absolutely exhausted and I’m not okay. And I haven’t been okay for awhile. I’m so, so tired.
In the midst of running a business during a global pandemic, I suffered an extremely traumatic medical emergency in the summer of 2023. I wasn’t able to take time off to process and continued working, and I’m feeling the weight of it all. It’s been challenging to show up fully.
Burnout is real, and right now, I find myself at a point where I need to step back to rest, reflect, and recharge. This is not an easy decision, but it is one I know is necessary for my health, my future work, and the communities I care deeply about. The tender needs tending. Many other entrepreneurs and small business owners that I know are feeling the same, and I’ve been feeling ready to give up. I don’t want to give up, though. What I want is to rest and to rest without worry.
I’m asking for your support as I take this time to heal. The funds raised here will go towards covering essential living expenses (rent, car payment, insurance, utilities, groceries), mental health care (therapy & anti-depressants), past due bills, and allowing me the time to focus on regaining my strength and capacity. This will also ensure that I can continue to contribute to our collective liberation and healing in the future.
Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will be deeply appreciated. Your support means the world to me, and I’m grateful for any help you can offer. Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
With Love,
