My name is Zike Zhou, a 16-year-old high school sophomore. I’m here to ask for help for the person I love most—my mom, Renee.
Nine years ago, my father passed away from kidney cancer. I was only seven. Since then, Mom is my home, my strength, my everything.
But in March this year, our world shattered again. My mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. Due to her severe allergic reactions to Paclitaxel, she was sent to the ER multiple times during her chemo. I quit my volleyball team and even turned down an $8,000 scholarship from the Manhattan School of Music, just so I could stay by her side every single day. After 3 months' treatment, her cancer got worsened. She has lost over 50 pounds and made doctors harder to treat her.
Now, on top of fighting cancer, we are drowning in medical bills, rent, and basic living costs. I’m terrified that one day, we won’t even be able to afford the chance for her to keep fighting. Your support will go directly toward my mom's treatments, our essential living expenses and my education.
After experiencing all of this, I hope to engage in the cancer research in the future. I hope that one day cancer will no longer hurt any family!
Any donation or even sharing this page would mean the world to us. Thank you to every single person willing to help. You are giving us more than financial support—you are giving us hope. ❤️
