Our dear friend and beloved PreK3 teacher at SPS, Candice Matamoros, is facing an unimaginable heartbreak. Her husband, Michael, was recently diagnosed with colo-rectal cancer that has spread to his liver — an overwhelming and life-changing moment for Michael, Candice, Quinnleigh, and baby sister (due December 2025). As they navigate this devastating diagnosis, they are seeking the very best medical care and treatment options to give Michael the greatest possible chance at fighting this terrible disease. But with that comes an unexpected and heavy financial burden. We have set up this GoFundMe to help ease this additional financial burden and give them the space to focus on what matters most - being together, fighting for his health, and holding onto hope.

Candice and Michael have touched all of our lives in the most beautiful and lasting ways — through their kindness, their joy, and the love they have poured into our children, our schools, our future athletes and our community. Now, as they face this heartbreaking and uncertain journey, it’s our turn to surround them with that same love, faithful prayers, and steadfast support.
