80 Year Old Bagger Help Gary Retire

Hi. My name is Duana Johnson. I am trying to raise money to just let an 80-year-old elderly man get a break and retire.

Gary Saling and his wife Carol were deeply in love. They had a story that many would say was a fairy tale. Gary was an architect and Carol was an artist.

They lived modestly and loved deeply!

When Carol came down with an excruciating disease, Gary promised Carol he would not put her in a facility or hospital but keep her home to care for her.

Over time, Gary realized he could not leave her alone even to go get groceries or run to his doctor appointments.

The final straw was when he left for a short time and Carol fell and was injured. She had deteriorated to literally skin and bones and needed around-the-clock care.

He hired in-home care, and everything they had saved up was quickly spent on her care and his own medical issues that were going on at the time.

This left Gary devastated.

The plans he and Carol had to retire and pay off their debt quickly fell through due to the massive amount of medical bills.

Their life savings were gone. Carol passed away, and with it, he lost her social security.

Now Gary is left at 80 years old, bagging groceries four days a week at a local grocery store.

After contracting infections in both of his feet and having surgeries on his feet, it's getting more difficult for Gary to work and be on his feet for hours at a time.

My prayer is that we can raise the amount of money that was meant for Gary to retire that had to go into medical bills that have kept him in debt and basically is keeping him working "until he dies," as Gary puts it.

Gary also still has ongoing medical issues himself and needs to be able to address those things.
