The Onyx Fund: 100 for 100 Holiday Campaign

This holiday season, The Onyx Fund is launching a special campaign called 100 for 100 in partnership with Project 92, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Black women, families in crisis, and community resilience.

I came up with this idea because I know there are many food pantries and community resources available, but not everyone’s needs are the same. Some families have dietary restrictions, food allergies, or special snacks that make their kids happy. With this campaign, families can create a custom grocery list within their $100 budget, giving them the freedom to choose what works best for them. I also believe this approach helps them keep their dignity and a sense of normalcy during a time that can feel stressful and uncertain.

Our goal is simple: to give 100 families $100 worth of groceries and household goods to help them get through the holidays with dignity, warmth, and a full table.

Over the past year, The Onyx Fund has provided emergency assistance to Black women and families facing eviction, food insecurity, loss of income, and even legal struggles. The donations raised on our main GoFundMe have already been used for those urgent needs.

This campaign is separate and focused entirely on holiday support. We have already received many submissions from families who need help, and with cuts to SNAP and EBT benefits, the need is growing every single day. We could not wait for everything to be perfect to start helping.

Here is how the 100 for 100 goal breaks down:

• $100 for groceries and household goods for each family

• $10 to cover packaging and shipping for each family

That means we need $110 per family, bringing our total goal to $11,000 to fully fund the campaign. Every dollar donated to this campaign will go directly toward food, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other basic needs. We want to make sure each family has what they need to feel secure and cared for this season. If we reach our goal and there is any money left over, it will be used during Christmas time to help families with children buy gifts. So if we pass the goal, please keep donating. All funds raised will be used exclusively for charitable purposes. None of the money from this campaign will be used for political activity of any kind. We may not be able to fix the entire system, but together we can make sure no family goes hungry or forgotten this holiday season.
