Supply Solar Panels in Balaka, Malawi
Donation protected
I recently travelled to Malawi and met with Fr Blaise. He drew attention to a project aiming to install solar panels at the Montfort Father's Formation House. There are serious problems with the current power supply which often leaves the seminarians without electricity.
The water supply at the formation house is pumped using electricity, so when there is no power, water is scarce making it difficult to drink, wash and cook. Even during dry season in May, a larger district in Malawi called Zomba went without running water for over 10 days.
Without electricity, the fridge doesn’t work and perishable food goes bad. Students find it difficult to finish their assignments and study with a lack of light and internet.
The solar panels should improve electricity supply to the seminarians in Malawi, making life much easier. I will be talking about it in mass this weekend, and any donations will be greatly appreciated.
