CMSgt (Retired) John and Patty Dougherty have worked together caring for people for over 4 decades through service with the US Air Force and currently as a Human Resources Director with the US Space Force. They want to engage every person they know to help support over 700,000 federal employees who were furloughed on 1 October 2025. It is 33 days since the official Government shutdown and John’s team hasn’t received a paycheck since 30 September.

As the Government Shutdown looms on with no end anticipated in the next week or two, these dedicated employees support programs that impact nearly every American. These folks have bills mounting and kids in need and are struggling to provide for food, housing, utilities, and other basic needs. In Chief and Patty’s immediate sphere of influence, there are about 60 civil servants impacted by the lapse of appropriations that has STOPPED their pay checks.

With Thanksgiving just 25 days away, Chief and Patty have initiated this Go-Fund-Me event to raise money to help those 60 (and as many federal civil servants the funds would cover) pay for a traditional Thanksgiving meal (Turkey, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Cranberry Sauce and of course the Pumpkin Pie). Our goal is to raise a minimum of $6,000 to provide the 60 Space Force employees with a $100 gift card for their local grocer! You can help us by making a donation today – every dollar counts.

To get this important Crowd Sourcing event started, Chief and Patty kicked the event off with a donation. We greatly need our extended Family, Friends, Peers, and business associates to consider donating today! We believe there are many folks who will read this that are in a position to make a donation and through that depth of kindness, we can not only reach our initial goal but exceed it by 10,000 percent!
