Supper Support- Access to Food for Those in Need
A project has been created by many great, compassionate minds, to feed those in Chaffee County who have limited access to food at this time, while simultaneously supporting local restaurants.
"Supper Support," a fundraising effort to provide dinners for families in need, is launching this week, and will continue to evolve. To start, two dinners will be provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays at no cost to 20 families, a total of 125 people each time. In addition, "staple" bags will be distributed on Fridays for those in need as well. The hope is for this to grow.
Local restaurants will have an opportunity to provide these meals and generate income for their respective businesses. Each restaurant will receive $10 for every dinner that is prepared (or up to $1,200).
Thank you to the Buena Vista Board of Education for thoughtfully providing $10,000 to fund the start up costs for this project. We are all learning so much every day because of the example the school district has set in organized care for families in our community.
